Facial Products

After wasting a few amount of dollars I stumbled upon this product through youtube. The simple (yeah simple is the brand name)  face care line has really helped my skin and pocket (it is affordable). I have used it for about 40 weeks now and I have definitely seen a difference in my face. It has not stopped me from breaking out but it has kept my face soft, hydrated and it takes care of the aftermath of a breakout. I don't think there is a product that can actually prevent you from breaking out because your break out depends on your hormones, what you eat and stress. In case any of you find a product that prevents break out let me know sha. I pretty much told everyone I know about this product after about 3 weeks of using it.

I Got Initiated.

Since I did my big chop aka BC (get familiar to hair terms people I would start using them more often) in 2011 I swore off blow dryers because I did not see the use for it. I let my hair air dry all the time. I mostly stayed off blow dryer because I didn't want to ruin my curls and also because I just did not see how I can blow dry all that hair. I had one of those blow dryers that had a round tip and din't come with a diffuser (maybe I just couldn't find it). I tried to use it with a brush once and it was so much work my gahd! My hands were hurting, my scalp was hurting, above all my time was being wasted!!! I did not even get far in the blow drying process, I did a tiny section and I gave up. Since that faithful time wasted day in 2012 I did not touch a blow dryer again until October 2015.

Old Blow Dryer.

In my opinion this blow dryer is not made for nappy hair!

Cherry Lola caramel treatment recipe.

I have promised a few people a post on treatment ages ago. I am sorry it is coming late. Better late than never yeah? The Cherry Lola treatment is one that I have always done since I went natural. I do not do it as often as I would love to but I do it at least twice a year. I have done it more than twice this year and I am very proud of myself for keeping up. My recipe has improved over the years and I love it! There are different variations of this treatment out there but here is mine:
  •  2 cups of plain Greek yogurt.
  • 1 raw egg.
  • 1 whole ripe banana.
  • 1/2 ripe avocado.
  • 1 tablespoon of unsulfured molasses.
  • 1/2 tablespoon of raw honey.
  • 2 tablespoon of raw coconut oil.
  • 2 tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar.
  • 2 tablespoon of baking soda.
  • About 10 mint leaves.

This are all the ingredients I use. It is missing avocado, yogurt, banana & eggs. Regular blender can be used but I invested in a hand blender I strictly use just for my hair concussions.

What is going on?!

After a year of  being natural, the horror called the awkward stage happened! For those that do not know what the awkward stage is, it is that stage when you think your hair is too long for a wash and go (your hair is never too long for wash and go) but too short for styling. When my hair got to this stage I was beyond confused. At this point I still did not know there was a thing such as "natural hair community". When I decided to go natural I did not do my research on natural hair and for a year or two later I still did not research it.

I googled natural hairstyles and fro hawk caught my  attention. I immediately grabbed my eco-styler and twisted the middle of my hair and begged my sister to cornrow the sides because at that time i couldn't make neat presentable lines (thank God I can now). The first time I did my fro-hawk my twist came loose almost immediately. I was so frustrated and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I soon realize what the problem was; My twists were too BIG!!!

The hairstyle that saved my life =========>

Lesson 1: Big twists and short hair do not get along! As soon as I realized this I re-did my hair and made my twist small and yes it stayed! You know I was cised about that. I wore it like that for a few days and I later took the twist apart. This hair style became my to go to for the hair growth awkward months.

OMG The Reactions.

TWA Days!
I did my big chop (BC) and was learning to love it but did others? Like dealing with my new looks was not challenging enough the hassles my sisters and some friends gave me was very discouraging. Having natural hair was new to me so obviously my hair wasn't always top notch (still isn't) and they made sure to always point it out every chance they got. And let me tell you, this hair of mine wasn't as bad looking as they made their faces when they talked about it. Of course I din't like being made fun of (no one does) and sometimes they got to me and made me question my choices.

Newbie Days.

Doing a big chop is one thing, but learning how to handle your hair in its natural state is another. I am proud to say I did not go through a lot of struggle with my hair (hallelujah!) but I did a lot of learning. When I did my big chop I only knew one girl that was natural and her hair was way longer than mine so I couldn't even try to copy her styles or anything. I remember my mom buying curl activators for my hair when I was younger so I decided to start from there. I went into the beauty store and they did not have any of the activators I was familiar with.I roamed around the store for a while and I finally found something similar to an activator.

I do not have a picture of my original eco styler gel. I used the green one with a hold of 10. This is the one I currently use. I buy which ever one I see first.

Oh Travel!

uhmmmmmmmm you already thought of airplanes didn't ya? From my experience when most people hear me say the word travel they automatically think airplanes is included. According to dictionary.com travel means to go from one place to another, as by car, train, plane or ship; take a trip; journey. If this is the meaning of travel, why then do people think travel refers to journey taken by plane?. I have personally come to the conclusion that people think travel only involves plane due to social media. I mean we all follow a few celebrities that are forever on #jetlife and doing "fun" stuff in the countries they visit.
Let me break it to you people, you don't have to be on a airplane to travel. If you are still trying to figure out your life like me you know very well that you can't afford to be on a plane every other month. You can most definitely travel within where you live. Your traveling can even be done in the same state you live in. You would be surprised about the beautiful things in the state you live in that you haven't discovered. Just the other day I discovered a beautiful water fall about an hour thirty minutes away from where I live. I arranged a trip with 2 of my friends and we sure had a good time getting in that very chilled water in that peaceful environment.

Even on a carriage you are travelling :)

The Beginning!

I grew up cutting my hair. I did not start growing my hair out until I was about 10 years old. From what I remember I started getting a perm as soon as my hair was long enough for one. My hair did OK with perm until I moved to the United States. My first winter in the state my hair struggled! My sister and I helped each other with our hair because salons were so expensive. She gave me a perm and I flat ironed my hair, I slowly saw my hair shedding daily  (*tears*) . You would think this would be a wake up call for me right? Nope it wasn't!. I continued to get my perm every 6-8 weeks and I braided my hair in between leaving it out.

I only started taking proper care of my skin about a year ago. This past year I discovered some product for my skin and I have shared it with some of my friends and it has been helping them so why not share it with you guys?!I used to break out on the same spots on my face which were my cheek bones and forehead.
