The Elephant in the room

DISCLOSURE: I am not an expert on sex; just a woman sharing bits & pieces of what she and some of her friends have learned in life. Feel free to email me if you have specific questions or want me to share your story on the blog. Don't be shy someone else might have gone through/is going through the same exact things you are going through. If you don't ask you will never know :)

I am daring to speak about the unspoken subject of sex.  I have had this on my mind for several months, but like we all know sex is a sensitive subject for most people. This topic won't just get off my mind so I decided it lingering has to be for a purpose. Maybe I am meant to help one or two people with this new segment of the blog.

I'm not encouraging anyone to have sex rather  I want you to read this post, and subsequent posts, in this section with an open mind. This is going to be an open platform where you might get some answers to the questions you have been dying to know. You will understand that you are not alone with whatever you are going through with your sex life or lack of. And for the men out there, keep on reading this is not only for the ladies. I think it is important for men as well as women to fully understand the essence of sex. It shouldn't be about just the pleasure (like we all know it is just about pleasure for some men/women) but we should understand what makes a woman a WOMAN. I mean how else would you know how to treat her if you don't know what goes on between her legs? Alright before we continue please keep in mind that I am not an expert on this topic! I would be sharing some things I know and some experiences of either myself or some of the people I have encountered. There's no names dropping so in some stories you won't be able to tell if I am referring to myself or another person. I have sought the consent of friends and other willing participants and many of them are eager to share their stories already. YESSSS GIRLFRIENDS & BOYFRIENDS!
When I thought about this segment of the blog I initially wanted to refer to myself without any shame in my game. After several discussions with the people my post might affect I decided to take another route to protect others that would be involved in the story. I have not fully decided what these stories would be about but here are some things you can look forward to......women's health involving the vjayjay, STD's , birth control methods...you get the gist now yeah?

I know this blog would bring all sorts of controversy, comments, concerns and judgments. I would not say I am ready for all that but I am definitely prepared to read every single comment with an open mind. If there is one thing I have learned in my short time on earth it is that people generally like to feel more "righteous" than the person sitting next to them. So when I read "shady" comments (which I am pretty sure I will) I will kindly remind myself of that. Who is excited?! I know I am thrilled :)

  1. I am not exactly sure why the sex topic is sensitive. I guess it all depends on one's vantage point on the topic. My folks didn't discuss the topic and frankly I wish they did. I would have rethunk(yeah it's not a word but you get the point! Lol) some of my sex induced decisions. I def will do the talk with my kids and I am actually looking FWD to it actually.
In my opinion, sex education should be an actual course in Nigerian schools. Oh dear I have a ton to say on this topic so please bring it on.

    1. It is a uncomfortable topic for a lot of people even those that are not Nigerians. My parents kind of did the talk with me but not enough. I am definitely doing the talk in details about it with my kids. I am so glad you are excited about this topic yay!

  2. Oh so true. I will be very(emphasis here) detailed with them kids. Because I think kids need to know these things early enough especially in a world where social media rules and nothing is sacred anymore

    1. Teach them at home before they get the wrong information from the world. That is definitely the way forward.
