Facial care routine on a weekly basis.

Alright this post is not as deep as my daily routine post. My weekly routine mostly depends on how much time I have on the weekend and what my face has been through during the week. I have 2 masks I use for my face; the simple deep cleansing face mask or my Aztec clay mask which I mix myself.

1) Barely any make up week ( 90% of the time).

  • I wash my face with a foaming cleanser.
  • I apply the simple deep cleansing mask & I let it  sit for 15-30 minutes. If I am feeling fancy I put cold cucumbers on my eyelids.
  • I wash it off with cool water & pat dry with a face towel.
  • I apply micellar water with a cotton  ball and let it air dry for a few minutes & I follow up with either my day or night lotion.

2) More than 3 layers of make up at least twice in a week .

  •  I apply Aztec clay mask mix & I let it sit for 30-45 minutes. If I have cucumbers at home I use it for my eyelids.
  • I rinse with cool water first and I wash my face with my foaming cleanser just to make sure I get all the mask off.
  • Pat dry with a towel.
  • I apply micellar water with a cotton  ball and let it air dry for a few minutes.
  • I sometimes put a little bit of tea tree oil on my face & I follow up with either my day or night lotion.
I also follow this step if I am having a breakout on my face. This really cleans out my pore, my face feels brand new after this treatment.

Aztec clay recipe.

  1. 1/4 cup of Aztec clay.
  2. 5-6 drops of 100% tea tree oil.
  3. Add water till consistency is no longer thick but neither watery. Basically it should  flow more smoothly than a pudding but not watery.
I used my spray bottle for the water but you can barely see the water in the pic. Not so smart yeah?!

A little of this mixture goes a long way. This usually last me at least 2 months unless I decide to use it for my hair  which typically requires me to make more mask. I used to mix the mask with apple cider vinegar (ACV)  instead of water but that dried out my skin a lot. Try out both water and acv and see which one you prefer. If you have a pimple that is developing you can just put a little bit in that specific area and it will dry out your pimples; do this overnight.

P.S: I am thinking about investing in a good vitamin C serum. Is any of my readers using one? if yes how do you like it?

  1. I've trying to treat my skin better but it's so much effort, you know. Tried the Simple Light Moisturiser and Hydrating Facial Wash (I remember you mentioned it in one of your posts) but for some reason it made me itch all over my face. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I'm definitely going to try the clay recipe. I've heard good things about it.

    1. It is a lot of effort especially when you are just starting out. You will get used to it and it will become a routine. Aw that sucks! was that the first time you used it? if yes try one more time and see what happens. Clay is amazing! I use it on my hair too.

What do you think?
